PDP wins 25 Assembly seats in Ekiti

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued its
winning streak in the Ekiti State House of Assembly
election conducted on Saturday, winning 25 out of 26
seats declared so far.
The only result still being awaited was that of Ilejemeje
Constituency which was still being collated at press time.
The implication of the result is that no present member of
the current Assembly-either on the PDP side or the All
Progressives Congress (APC)-will return to the legislative
chamber when the fifth Assembly is inaugurated in June.
The result hands control of the state parliament to the PDP
which is expected to enjoy overwhelming majority when a
new Assembly is proclaimed into existence.
A statement issued on Sunday, conveying the results which
was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the
state, Taiwo Gbadegesin, revealed that the Ilejemeje
Constituency result will be released as soon as the agency is
through with the collation.
According to the result endorsed by INEC, PDP won in Ado
Constituency 1 with 10,065 to beat APC, 3,819 and Labour
Party 1,110.
At Ado 2 constituency, the PDP polled 11,770 compared to
APC's 4,660 and LP's 301.
